March 2013 Tour Blog - Day 5

We got a good night of sleep and left Jason's house early. Found our way to Freebird Burritos. Only the location that was closest to us wasn't open, so we went back downtown to the one that was closed last night.

In one word, AMAZING! Freebird Burritos is very good. If you are ever near one, give them a shot.

We hit the road and make our way toward Columbia, with Henry Rollins Get in the Van as our soundtrack.

We make one stop before we get to Columbia, a gas station off the interstate, for gas and drinks. JJ gets asked by a trucker if he had heard anything good or bad about the xxx up the road. Seeing as he had not, he I couldn't tell him yay or nay.

Back on the road, we enter Columbia a little early and walk around a mall for a bit to kill time.

Once we get down to The Blue Fugue, which is the venue we are playing tonight. Talk to the people working and realize we have time to get some dinner. So we walk down the street to Shakespeare's Pizza and pig out.

After stuffing ourselves, we walk back to the venue and load in.

We chill for a while and listen to the opening band. As soon as they finish, we set up as quickly as possible and waste no time getting to it. In my opinion, one of our better sounding shows as far as PA goes. They didn't mic the amps but there was no need in this room. Only the kick and vocals were put through the sound system and they sounded amazing. At least they did on stage. We got a great reaction from the crowd and I think we played a great show.

After our set, a band called Suns played and I was blown away. Such a unique sound and they all played so well together. They are from Chicago. I seriously hope to play many more shows with them. If you haven't heard them, check them out. You will not be disappointed.

So after meeting some cool people in Columbia and packing up all of our gear. We hook up with the people whom we are staying with and travel out to the area that they live.

So...Nalani found these people on couchsurfing.com We hadn't really meet them until tonight.

Joe, the owner of the home, gets in the van with us to navigate, because this place is in the middle of nowhere. After traveling into the country, up and down some gravel roads, and up a very long and bumpy drive way. The woods open up to unveil a giant dome house surrounded by old cars and scrap.

I'm not gonna lie. It felt a little creepy at first. Being way out in the country with no one around, and the surroundings of this house reminds me a little of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but...Joe and everyone seems really nice so we give them the benefit of the doubt.

Entering the home, all of my bad vibes went away. This place is amazing. Just a bunch of the cool people, living in a dome house in the country, and they let us crash here, having never met us before. How cool is that?

We are sleeping in a loft up in the top of the dome. There is a gigantic projector screen against a wall facing us that is connected to Joe's computer. By far the largest monitor I have ever seen.

There is lots of room for everybody. With beds for all of us.

Sleep right now sounds like a good plan. I really enjoyed Columbia. Can't wait to return, to rock them again.

Tomorrow, St.Louis. Should be fun.

Goodnight. --Cole
